About Us

The Psychologists' Union of Armenia is a professional non-governmental organization established by the General Assembly in December 2022. The organization was founded by 22 leading psychologists of Armenia, including 7 Doctors of Science, 10 Candidates of Science (PhD-equivalent degree holders), and other distinguished professionals with extensive experience in research, education, and psychological practice.
The Union includes collective members from universities across Yerevan and the regions of Armenia, as well as 12 psychological centers.
To become a member of the Union, applicants must hold a higher education degree in psychology (a Bachelor's degree with at least one year of professional experience, or a Master's degree) and possess a certificate of continuing professional education in the field of psychology.
The mission of the organization is to assess, coordinate, regulate, and promote professional practice and internationally recognized standards in the scientific, educational, and applied fields of psychology in Armenia.
The Union also contributes to the development and implementation of the legislative and professional regulatory framework governing psychological practice in the Republic of Armenia, working in cooperation with governmental, non-governmental, and international organizations.
The organization has implemented a number of scientific and educational initiatives, as well as research projects, including:
  • UNFPA and WHO Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Program: "Survey of Internally Displaced Persons from Artsakh"
  • Professional evaluation and review of World Health Organization (WHO) OpenWHO course guidelines
    "Psychological Vernissage–EXPO" Exhibition for Students and Psychological Organizations
  • Conferences, seminars, masterclasses, and other professional events.
At its 2026 General Assembly, the Union outlined the following measures to regulate the provision of psychological services and professional practice in psychology:
  • The Union has initiated a credentialing process for practicing psychologists, which will result in the establishment of a professional registry of psychologists maintained by the Union. This initiative will also contribute to the development of professional standards for the field and provide a foundation for future regulation of psychological practice, including regulation at the state level.
  • Development of Continuing Professional Education (CPE/CPD) Programs.
  • Re-registration of Specialized Psychologists Based on Educational Standards.
  • Development of Educational Modules
The Psychologists' Union of Armenia (PUA) is a professional non-governmental organization representing the field of psychology in Armenia. Established in 2022, the Union brings together scientists, researchers, practicing psychologists, and students.
Its members are dedicated to the advancement and development of psychological science and remain committed to supporting the mental health, well-being, and psychosocial resilience of populations forcibly displaced from Armenia and Artsakh.
The principal objectives of the Psychologists' Union of Armenia (PUA) are to support and enhance the professional status of psychologists; promote the quality of psychology education; contribute to the advancement of scientific research and achievements; protect the interests of the profession; support the development and improvement of research, clinical, and applied methods in psychology; promote recognition of the value of professional psychological services by public institutions, governmental bodies, and society at large, as well as within relevant international platforms; foster collaboration within the professional community; and identify effective socio-psychological approaches that contribute to improving the quality of educational, personal, and professional life.
